Mystic 1800

This is personal portfolio and blog, which isn't pointed into any particular direction. It's mostly about expressing my thoughts (in writing and paining). As English isn't my native language, I see great chance to improving it, in writing my own blog. In general writing has many other benefits too: it keeps our _brain_ alive (prevents mental passivity, which become quite usually as soon as people leave the school) and help us to express better. It also helps, to discipline our mind (our thoughts), as with writing we're following one thought more strictly - compared to cases, when we only think about something, and our mind (we even aren't aware of that) jumping all around, from thought to thought, from topic to topic.

Content

Since this is personal blog, I'll be mostly (or entirely) expressing my own thoughts and ideas. So, on this point it would be maybe better, if you'd scroll down, and see what I have to say about myself. But, if I summarize content: mostly it's new age philosophy. However, I don't have in mind total _positive_ way of thinking, and empty phrases which lately spreading all over the Internet (mostly in forward mails).
Above all, I want my writing to be result of my own ideas and experiences, though of course, my ideas (like everything else in this world) are inspired by other ideas and philosophies.

Technology

Page is powered by my own system called AvreliaCMS, and hosted by (mt) Media Temple. I wrote the code and I did the design, but of course this page wouldn't look or behave as it does, if there wouldn't be a lot of really great and free resources like: jQuery and stock photos/textures/icons (listed bellow on the left). I could go even deeper and mention Linux, which is used by my host, and PHP, SQLite and Apache server. Well you got the idea, right? There's not even a single website on whole Internet, which wouldn't be done by help of thousands people, which devoted their time, and offer their great technologies and other creations for free.

As author, I'll try to be nice and respectful, however, if it does somehow happened that any of my posts is (or it seems to be) offensive, please let me know. The same apply for you, if you send me message, or just write an comment, be nice and respectful. Thank you.

Well - there's no (c) on this page, you can take everything you want, use it however you want. That apply for all of my writing and for most of my paintings. I go ever step fuhrer - you can take whole design, code (css, html) - if you ask me I'll send you even source code (PHP) of whole page. :)
However, that doesn't apply to photos which are part of posts (since I have no right to give them to you, as I'm not the author), and that doesn't apply to pictures in my portfolio WHICH are marked with (c) Mystic 1800 (look to the bottom right part of the picture), -- I had to (c) those paintings, as I was using _stock_ photos while creating them.
It is desired however, that if you take anything off my page, let me know. :)

I was thinking for quite some time how to write this. It's a fact, that I can't write anything _real_ about myself. What I'll wrote will be only words, and those words will be understood differently, from person to person.

If I write word apple - some people will start thinking about red and sweet, others about green and sour fruit, and some will think about Mac, or iPhone, iTunes or iPod. :)

This is the picture of me, the day I took it, was a bit cloudy in my room.

Every attempt to describe myself, is doomed to fail. It's absolutely impossible to express wholeness and complexity of person with words. That doesn't apply just to me, it applies to all of us, and to the world which surround us. We can only experience ourselves, each other, and the world, but we can't truly express any of those things with words.

So, keep in mind, that everything that follows are only words, which will draw you some images and ideas, and no matter how real and clear those ideas seems to be, they aren't reality.

Mystic 1800

The title of this website reveal one of my views on the world. I see the world as mysterious, full of secrets. Mysterious things can be frightening, but can be also inspirational, they can excite out imagination and create something limitless.

I choose the title many years ago, it was chosen completely intuitive, and it was long before the idea of having my own website. It seemed back then, as just a random word on my mind, without any deeper meaning. However, that's far from the truth.
Number "1800" represent year - 18th (and 19th) century seemed always very warm and familiar to me. I like to joke sometime, that, for sure, in my previous life I lived in that era.

There is something, that makes this joke quite real. Mentioned era is the era of romanticism, and as far back as I can remember, romanticism (+idealism) had been in me, as one of the prevailing parts of my personality.

Religion

Romanticism and mysticism goes quite good together with east philosophies. Couple of years ago, I discovered Buddhism, and very beautifully and simply merged it with my way of thinking. I can say, that I found Buddhism in myself, and myself in Buddhism.

But however, that shouldn't mislead you - I actually don't belong to any religion, but I'm start realizing, that in all (at least in all main) religions is the truth, or in other words, all religions are just different paths to the truth. Different paths, to the top of the same mountain. I'll quote Gandhi here; When he was asked whether he was a Hindu, he replied, "Yes I am. I am also a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist and a Jew."

It's important to see the truth, and see what religions actually trying to teach us, what can they offer us. Don't mix religion and institution. Apples are good - we can grow them ourselves, or we can buy them - and if we buy them from bad salesman, does that makes all apples bad? Does the fact that many scientists doing destructive things, and that science is responsible for deaths of millions people, makes all science bad, wrong and untrue?

To conclude, with thought of Dalai Lama: "My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness." And I can add - that's my religion too, that's my aim, my path, my practice.

Vegetarianism

I refuse option, to eat all meat (fishes too of course) in any form. There's a lot of reason why person should become an vegetarian, for me, one of the biggest is (I think) the love and respect towards animals. I don't want to eat animals, I don't want to own them, limit them or use them for any reason whatsoever. There's absolutely no one, who could gave me the right to use animals as I please, and even if someone could (and would), as an aware person, I can't accept it.

Simple life

In general, I'm trying to make my life as simple as possible. I have no ambitions to be rich, I just want to do, what makes me happy. I want to be able to live with very little money. Modest, simple life, in touch with nature, with myself and other beings. That's freedom. Doesn't sound good?

Music

I really love music. My taste isn't limited to one genre or subjected to any prejudice. I just listen what I like in given moment. Now rock, then classic, and after that trance, pop, jazz, new age, ambient,... It would be silly to point yourself into one particular kind of music, or just some bands or singers. Almost in every genre exists something good.

From all instruments, I admire piano the most, and I'd like learn to play it one day.
